1.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Device Information: iOS version, device type, and app version for compatibility and troubleshooting
- Usage Analytics: How you interact with the app features (aggregated and anonymized)
- Crash Reports: Technical data to help us fix bugs and improve app stability
- Location Data: Only when you explicitly grant permission for weather-based plant care recommendations
1.3 Camera and Photo Data
- Plant Photos: Images you take or select for plant identification and record keeping
- AI Processing: Photos may be processed by our AI plant identification service (OpenAI GPT-4 Vision) when you use the identification feature
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide and improve the AquaBloom service:
- Plant Care Management: Store your plant data, schedules, and care history
- Smart Reminders: Send notifications for watering and care tasks
- Weather Integration: Provide location-based weather data to optimize care schedules
- AI Plant Identification: Process plant photos to identify species and provide care recommendations
- App Improvement: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and fix issues
- Customer Support: Respond to your questions and provide assistance
- Subscription Management: Process premium subscriptions through Apple's App Store
Important: We never sell your personal data to third parties. Your plant care information remains private and is used only to provide you with the best possible plant care experience.
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 Local Storage
Most of your plant data is stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework. This means your information stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly use cloud-enabled features.
3.2 iCloud Sync (Premium Feature)
Premium users can enable iCloud synchronization to backup and sync data across their Apple devices. When enabled:
- Data is encrypted and stored in your personal iCloud account
- We do not have access to your iCloud data
- Data transmission is handled by Apple's secure infrastructure
3.3 Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- OpenAI (GPT-4 Vision): For AI plant identification when you use this feature
- Apple WeatherKit: For weather data based on your location (when permitted)
- Apple App Store: For subscription and payment processing
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: Third-party services listed above that help us provide app functionality
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government regulation
- Safety and Security: To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notification)
5. Your Rights and Choices
5.1 Data Access and Control
- Access: View all your plant data within the app
- Edit: Modify or update your plant information at any time
- Delete: Remove individual plants or all data from the app
- Export: Export your plant data in standard formats (Premium feature)
5.2 Privacy Settings
- Location Services: Enable/disable location access in iOS Settings
- Camera Access: Control camera permissions in iOS Settings
- Notifications: Manage notification preferences in app settings
- iCloud Sync: Enable/disable cloud synchronization (Premium users)
5.3 Account Deletion
To permanently delete your account and all associated data:

- We will delete your account within 30 days
- Note that data stored in your iCloud account will need to be deleted separately through iOS Settings
6. Children's Privacy
AquaBloom is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.
7. International Data Transfers
If you are located outside the United States, please note that information we collect may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using AquaBloom, you consent to the transfer of information to countries outside your country of residence.
8. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to provide our services:
- Plant Data: Until you delete the app or request account deletion
- Usage Analytics: Aggregated data retained for up to 2 years
- Support Communications: Retained for up to 3 years for quality assurance
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:
- We will notify you through the app or via email
- The updated policy will be posted on our website
- Your continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
