Karol Jaworski ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Butter mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. By using Butter, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
When you use Butter, you may provide the following information:

Butter uses Grok, an AI model developed by xAI, to generate personalized recipes. When you request a recipe, your dietary preferences, ingredient selections, and related cooking information may be sent to xAI's servers for processing. This data is used solely for the purpose of generating your recipe and is subject to xAI's Privacy Policy.

Local data is retained on your device until you delete the App or clear its data. Server-side account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, we will remove your server-side data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
If you are located in the EEA, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing is your consent (provided when you use the App and configure preferences) and legitimate interest (improving the App).
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
Butter is not designed for or directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own when using third-party services (e.g., Supabase, xAI). These services maintain appropriate data protection safeguards in compliance with applicable regulations.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
