Fees
Where do Flip's marketplace fees come from? From each marketplace's own published fee page. Flip keeps the fee rules for the United States, for private sellers in the United Kingdom and for private sellers in Germany, each with the base the page states (item price, the shipping the buyer paid, sales tax), per-order fees and category exceptions, the date the rule took effect, the page it comes from and the date Flip checked it. Profit → Business Settings → Fee Rules shows every rule with its source and the words it quotes; a link opens the marketplace's page. Marketplaces change their fees, so treat a fee as Flip's best reading of the published rule on the sale's day, and check it against your payout.
My marketplace isn't listed, or I'm a business seller or outside these regions.Choose "Another region or a business seller" where you sell from, and give each marketplace your own percentage and per-order amount. You can also change the fee of any single sale on its sale sheet.
Does a fee change when a marketplace changes its rule? No. Each sale keeps the fee it was recorded with, the rule it came from and the amounts it was worked out on. A new rule applies to sales from its date on.
I used Flip 1.x. What is the fee review?Flip 1.x worked out some fees from an outdated table (eBay's 2024 rate, Facebook's earlier fee, no Depop processing fee, and the US formula for UK and German private sellers). 2.0 keeps the fee each 1.x sale showed. Where today's dated rule gives a different fee, What's New and Business Settings → Fee Rules → Review offer the list, grouped by marketplace, with the difference in each. Nothing changes until you choose, marketplace by marketplace.
Trips and the car
Standard mileage or actual car costs? In the United States you choose, for each tax year, either the IRS standard mileage rate (Flip uses the rate for each trip's date, from the IRS's own announcements) or your actual car costs such as gas, never both, as IRS Publication 463 describes; parking and tolls count with either. Change it in Sourcing, on the year's car line. Outside the United States Flip counts your actual car costs on each trip.
The Tax Box
What is the Tax Box?Part of Flip Pro: your year from the same books as every other screen, laid out in the shape of the US Schedule C (gross receipts, returns, cost of goods sold from your inventory at the start and end of the year, fees, shipping, supplies, car costs by your method), with a self-employment tax estimate and its source, a note on Form 1099-K, and a PDF and CSV for your accountant. Outside the United States it is the year's profit and loss, with notes for UK sellers. It is general information, not tax advice, and never says what you owe: check it with your tax preparer.
Shared Business
How do two people keep one set of books?Part of Flip Pro. Profit → Partner → Invite a Partner shares your business through iCloud with the person you invite: both phones see and edit the same items, sales and trips, with one currency and one time zone, and each sale carries the initial of who recorded it. Items a partner chooses to keep private when joining stay on that phone only. Your partner's Pro is included while your plan is active; if it ends, your partner keeps every record. Stop Sharing always ends sharing on your phone, even when iCloud can't be reached at that moment. Partners still on Flip 1.7 keep working with a partner on 2.0.
Ask your numbers
What does Ask your numbers send, and to whom?Part of Flip Pro. When you ask a question about a month or a year, Flip sends the question and that period's totals (sales, what came in, costs, fees, what you kept) to xAI, whose model Grok writes the answer, through our server, which keeps no copy. Item names and their costs are sent only if you also switch that on. Nothing is sent until you tap Allow on the sheet that explains this. Answers are general information, not financial or tax advice. See the
privacy policy.
How do I switch it off?Profit → Privacy: switch off Ask your numbers (or only the item names). Nothing more is sent from then on.
Your data
Where are my records kept?On your iPhone or iPad, and in your own iCloud account so your devices show the same books. Flip has no account and no server of its own for your records, so we never receive them.
How do I export everything?Profit → Business Settings → Export All Data writes every item, sale, return and trip as CSV files, free on every plan. The Tax Box's PDF and CSV are part of Pro.
How do I delete everything?Profit → Business Settings → Delete All Data. Before it deletes anything it says how many items, sales and trips it will erase, on this device and on every device signed in to your iCloud account. If you share your business, sharing ends first, so your partner's copy is not deleted.
Flip 2.0
I used Flip 1.x. What changed?Everything you recorded moved over, and partners keep sharing. The first time you open 2.0, What's New shows your month and what changed: fees by each marketplace's dated rule (with the review above), one car-cost method a year, sale days in your business's time zone, the Tax Box in place of Est. Tax, and no more Sign in with Apple (Flip never had an account; only your name was stored).
Subscription
How do I restore my subscription?Profit → Business Settings → Restore Purchases, or Restore on any Flip Pro screen.
How do I cancel?Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Flip → Cancel Subscription.
Flip is a bookkeeping tool for resellers. Fees and the Tax Box are general information, not tax or financial advice.
